Walter Bamber win August Pitcher of the Month

H'ville, Tn - SP Walter Bamber continued his attack on the Marvin League as he racked up his 2nd Pitcher of the Month Award in 2012.  While not as dominate as his June performance (5-0, 1.78 ERA) it was just as effective.

Bamber went 5-0 in 6 starts with a 3.35 ERA, 1.04 WHIP, 40 K's and 10 BB in 45.2 innings in August.

"I just wanted to go out and give my team the best chance to win," commented Bamber after the heard he won.  "This season has been unbelievable but we still have alot of work to do."

Heading into the last month of the season Bamber looks to be the front runner for the Boardman Award.  His 22-2 record is the best in the league and his 2.80 ERA is 2nd.  Teammate Scott Hill and Bruins' SP Ricky Bolden are right on his heels.

Bamber's 22 wins is just 2 shy of tying teammate Scott Hill for the VBL6 single season record.  With at least 5 starts schedule, possibly 6 Bamber looks to be in great shape to break or at least tie Hill's record.

UPDATE:
Following his great August, Bamber has imploded in September!  Currently having his worst month of the year right before the playoffs start, he is 2-3 with a 5.86 ERA, 1.65 WHIP, 18 ER allowed in 27.2 innings.  In his last 3 starts he has an embarrassing 10.13 ERA!!!     So much for the Hill/Bamber strength heading into the playoffs.
