Vazquez Traded

H'ville, TN, Sunday, March 17th, 2013: A trade between San Francisco and Hendersonville was made official this morning. The Liberals have sent $5,000,000 in cash to the Hitmen in exchange for 28-year-old first baseman Francisco Vázquez.

In 579 games Vázquez has a career .273 batting average and a .346 on-base percentage. He has hit 108 home runs with 385 RBIs and 314 runs scored.  Last year Vazquez hit a career high 30 HRs to go along with his 95 RBIs while playing for Denver and H'ville.

Francisco Vazquez
Age: 28
Avg: .273
HR: 108
RBI: 385
OBP: .346
OPS: .849
Contract: $6.33M/yr through 2015

Last year Vazques came over to the Hitmen in a deadline deal with Denver Dynasty.  Like most in-season trades Vazquez looked like he forgot how to play the game once he got to H'ville.
In Denver: .284 avg, 22 HRs, 71 RBIs, 18 2Bs and .898 OPS in 324 ABs
In H'ville:  .224 avg,   8 HRs, 24 RBIs,   6 2Bs and .689 OPS in 174 ABs

"Despite his horrible numbers here in H'ville last season, we still believe that Vazquez can play at a high level," Hays told local reporters.  "Last year we asked 'V' to play 3B and he never felt comfortable and it showed in the field and carried over to the plate."

While in Denver Vazquez played 1B and had only 3 ER in 88 games with an impressive .996 fielding pct.  With Tommy Green cemented at 1B Vazquez slid over to 3B in an attempt to fix the wreck that was going on over there.  Instead of fixing it the V at 3B experience made the situation worst and cost the hitmen some much needed wins down the stretch.  In 49 games at 3B Vazquez committed 14 Errors with a dismal .870 fielding pct.

In return for Vazquez San Fran sent $5M in cash which will help out for this season, but the bigger part of the deal is that Vazquez's $6.33M contract gives the club more room to try and re-sign 3x Boardman Award winner Scott Hill, one of the leagues most dominate CL Martin Griffin and LF/DH Tony Owens.

The final trade looks like this.....

Gets:

1B Francisco Vázquez.

Gets:

 $5,000,000 Cash
