Hitmen, Cards Trade Players

H'ville, Tn (AP) - Newspapers in Hendersonville and Reno reported that the Hitmen have reached a deal sending the #40 rated prospect, 17-year-old minor league closer Alfonso Ramos and 26-year-old first baseman Trevor Mitchell to the Cards for 24-year-old closer Tommy Connare and $2,500,000 in cash.

This season Connare has rung up 6 saves with a 0-3 record, a 4.50 ERA, a 1.46 WHIP and .312 BABIP in 28 innings pitched.  Last season he was 3-2, 2 Saves, 4.07 ERA, 1.21 WHIP, 43 Ks in 48.2 IP.

The Connare trade was done in direct correlation to Griff being traded.  It's no secret that Owner/GM Travis Hays LOVES a strong bullpen, so trading Griff left a spot open. Connare turns 25 next month and has a high upside and looks to be another great shutdown arm in the bullpen.

Orlando Calrissian's Owner/GM James T. Paterson has a very high opinion of Connare, as he and his staff said they rated him as a top 10 player and #2 arm in all of BSA.  While H'ville does not see him in the same light, they obviously are high on Connare.  According to the Hitman's scout Nathan Gray even if he maxes out his potential he would not be the best arm in the Hitmen's pen, much less all of BSA.

Tommy will actually be sent down to AAA to work on his mechanics and actually get to start.  Back in college Tommy was a starter, but since drafted hasn't made a start.

The official trade looked like this:

Gets:

 CL Alfonso Ramos
 1B Trevor Mitchell

Gets:

Tommy Connare

May PR3
