The FINAL Somerton Series Recap

Hendersonville, Tn  - After taking 3 of 4 from the once hated divisional rival Orlando Calrissians the Hitmen headed to Somerton for the final games of the Somerton Spartans history. VBL6's newest owner Scott Thompson is finishing up negotiations with New Orleans that will relocate the Spartans in time for their home matchup vs the Maui Tropics.

Game 1 Recap: Mal "Shelled" Windham gave the bullpen a little rest as he pitched 8.0 strong innings, 6 K's and 4 ER's. All 4 runs came off HR's in the 1st inning as the Spartans went back-2-back when LF Earl Hughes (5) hit a 3-run HR and DH Leonard Crowley (2) hit a solo shot.  In 3 starts so far this season Windham has now allowed 8 HRs, including 5 Solo HR's in his last start.
The Hitmen's offense saw their 1st inning 3-run lead vanish on the Somerton HR's but responded quickly.  Rookie's Luis Padilla (1) and Vicente "Hidden Ball" Salgado (1) hit back-2-back HRs in the 3rd inning to give the Hitmen the lead for good.  For Salgado it was his first career HR.
Team Captain Tommy Green also had a big day going 2-5, HR, 2B, 3 RBI, 2 R

Game 3 Recap: The Hitmen scored their most runs of the young season so far in a 12-7 victory in the last game ever vs the Spartans.  It only took 16 games for John Prowse to hit his first HR of the season, but it was a HUGE one.  Top of the 10th, tied at 7, 2-outs Prowse hits a 3-run HR to give the Hitmen the lead.  Rookie C Anastacio López went 2-5 with 4 RBI giving him 13 on the season.  Tommy Green continued his hot hitting as he hit a HR in his 3rd straight game going 2-4, HR (6), 2 RBI (15), 2 R and a BB.
The only reason Somerton was even in this game was because of  LF Earl Hughes  who hit a Grand Slam off Ellis and then a 2-run shot off Hassan.  Hughes was 2-4, 2 HR (7), 6 RBI, 2 R and a BB for the day and only had 4 hits in the series, but 3 of them were HRs.

Series MVP: Tommy Green .467 (7-15), 3 HR, 6 RBI, 5 R, 2B, BB

Injury: LF Gregg Burkholder fractured foot, needs more time, out for 6 more days
