Another big Injury, Prowse out 6 Months

H'ville, Tn - For the 3rd time this season John Prowse will head to the DL, but this time is different.  Instead of a few weeks Prowse will need 6 months to recover from a torn PCL.  Prowse missed 3 weeks in May with knee tendinitis, another 2 weeks in July with a strained rib cage muscle and now the torn PCL.

John Prowse
Avg: .315
OBP: .390
HR: 15
RBI: 63
OPS: .915
2B: 27
VORP: 42.6

Prowse has been a big disappointment since coming over in a trade last season and for the first time had his avg. over .300 while also having a very good OBP.  His 42.6 VORP was 2nd on the team behind only DH Manny Copriviza

In what was then Alaska, he had a .331/9/56/.408/.924 line in 74 games.
After the trade he hit .263/10/35/.346/.773 in 79 games.

Prowes has been up and down this year hitting .290 in April, .253 in May, .343 in June, .273 in July and a blistering .419 in August!

Prowse's injury comes at a horrible time, much like LF Gregg Burkholder cause he was playing his best baseball of the season.  If it wasn't for the insanely talented CF Germán "Golden" Rivas in Orlando then Prowse would have a shot at player of the Month in August.  So far he was hitting .419, 6 HR, 25 RBI, .476 OBP, 1.197 OPS, .720 Slg, 8 2Bs and 18 R.

Hays and the front office will look towards RF Mark Britton to fill in for Prowse the rest of the way.  Britton came up earlier in the year and in 7 games hit .389, 1 HR, 3 RBI, .522 OBP and a 1.133 OPS.  Most likely he will not keep that up but if we can get half the production Prowse was giving us we can survive.
