"The Cobra" claims 1st Batter of the Month Award

H'ville, Tn (AP) - When Manny "The Cobra" Copriviza stepped up to the plate in June, he did it with confidence and today he was honored with the National League Batter of the Month award for June.  This is the first time in Copriviza's young career that he has won a Batter of the Month award.

"The Cobra"
The young Hendersonville first baseman posted a .343 batting average with 12 home runs, 32 RBIs and scored 23 runs. Copriviza also worked pitchers for 15 walks to post a .444 on-base percentage along with an impressive .771 SLG and 1.215 OPS!  21 of his 36 hits went for extra bases and his 32 RBI's in 27 games marked the 2nd straight month that he eclipsed the 30 RBI mark in a month.

So far on the year Copriviza, who is still only 23 has hit at a .292 clip with 79 RBIs, 21 home runs and 60 runs scored.  If he keeps this up then this will be the first of many awards for this young kid.
