"The Cobra" Strikes Again

H'ville, Tn (AP) - Manny "The Cobra" Copriviza demonstrated his potential to be a star in the game last week and today he took home the National League Player of the Week Award.

The Hendersonville first baseman wreaked havoc on opposing pitchers last week, pounding them for a .345 average (10-29) with 4 home runs and 6 RBIs on his way to claiming the honor.

So far this year Copriviza is hitting .323 with a . 377 OBP, .614 Slg., 20 HRs, 78 RBI's, 31 2Bs and an impressive 4.6 WAR and 45.5 VORP.

"Winning awards is nice but I would trade it for wins every time," Copriviza said in his press release.  "We expect to win no matter who we are facingWe got to get better."

The Hitmen have played 5 playoff contenders in their last 7 series but have lost 2 of 3 to Baffin, Regina and L.A. while sweeping Boston and taking 2 of 3 from Los Cabos.  Despite the tough series loss, the Hitmen were in almost all games losing 4 by 1 run and 1 on a tough Error late.
