#3Peat: Spec Spotlight - Manolo Román

H'ville, Tn (AP) - H'ville has never been know for it's farm system during the 5-year history of the BSA, but that might be changing.  This off-season the Hitmen have acquired a few nice young specs, none more promising than 3B Manolo Román.

Román came over in the Earl Harper trade and was the KEY piece to the deal being done.  Pittsburgh Swag owner Dustin Ableidinger was very reluctant (as he should) to include the young stud, but I wasn't willing to move Harper without him.

Román
At 17, Román was slotted to play the entire year in A for the Athen Assassins, but his quick start to the year so far has Hays and the Front Office reconsidering that decision.  So far it's a small sample size, but Román is hitting .321 with a .393 OBP, .491 Slg and 170 OPS+.  He has 2 HRs, 3 2Bs, 12 RBIs and 7 BBs in 14 Gms.

H'ville's scout Norman Gray has him pegged to be a 5* stud "who could be one of the dominate hitters in baseball for the next 10 years.  Has practically no flaws in his hitting. If he can stay healthy, he could end up in the Hall of Fame."

Román has well above contact potential and while he is 6'3 and 225 lbs at 17 he still has to develop his power swing, but has "top notch power potential.  Superior bat speed, and equally good at turning on inside and outside pitches," according to Gray.  He sports an elite eye and is "very patient, and draws plenty of walks.  Really works the pitcher hard."  While his defense isn't elite he will be among league leaders at his position.
