New York Series Recap

Hendersonville, Tn  - The Hitmen headed back to H'ville for their 2012 home opener vs the newly re-located New York Knights.  The Knights had one of the best FA signings when they snagged coveted OF Sam Sagar who had a HUGE series vs the Hitmen.

Game 1 Recap:  H'ville had to overcome a 5-run deficit after Sam Sagar hit a Grand Slam in top of the 3rd for his first career HR in a NY uniform.  The Hitmen pounded 6 HRs in their 2012 home opener lead by Tommy Green's 2 HRs.  Valdez, Copriviza, Perez and Hernandez each hit their 2nd HR of the season.

Game 2 Recap: Walter "The Claw" Bamber made his 2nd start of the year and pitched a gem throwing 7.1 innings, 5 H, 4 K, 1 ER and 0 BB.  1st year Hitmen Manny Copriviza continued his hot start with another 2 hit day upping is avg. to .313 while rookie SS Alonso Pérez upped his BA to .296 with a 2-3 day.

Game 3 Recap: The Hitmen were looking for the sweep with Mal "Shelled" Windham on the mound.  Windham pitched into the 8th inning striking out 7 and walking 1, but allowed 5 ER on 5 solo HRs.  NY's Sam Sagar hit 2 solo HRs giving him 3 in the series along with 6 RBIs while 1B J. Warner also hit 2 solo HRs.  Former Hitmen Enrique Reyes held the Hitmen's offense to 1 ER in 5.2 innings.
DH Manny Copriviza had a career high 4 hit day going 4-5 with a 3B, 2B and 2 singles.  Copriviza is hitting .378 so far this season. 



Injury: No new injuries
LF Gregg Burkholder (fractured foot, out for 2 weeks).
