Crushing Blow, Burkholder out for 4 months

H'ville, Tn - Today is a somber day in Hendersonville as the Hitmen confirmed that star LF Gregg Burkholder has a broken kneecap and will miss 4 months.  The news couldn't come at a worst time as the Hitmen offense has struggled to find any consistency this season, including 3 shutouts this month.

"I'm pissed," commented Burkholder after last night's game.  "I know my team needs me and now I can't help them.  All I can do now is rehab hard and hope to be back for the playoffs."

Burkholder was just starting to catch fire.  In his last 9 games Burkholder was hitting  .472 (17-36), 4 HR, 12 RBI, 3 SB

Burkholder
Avg: .306
HR: 13
RBI: 42
OBP: .382
OPS: .901
SB: 12
VORP: 22.7

With Burkholder on the DL the Hitmen will look to Tomás Hernández to step up and fill that void as best as he can.  Augusto Sánchez will also be called upon to help with possibly AAA CF Carl Welch getting a call up.
